Luke

Synopsis: The Gospel of Luke was written by a physician who was a companion of the Apostle Paul. Here is found the historical story of the birth of John the Baptist, the historical story of the shepherds at the birth of the LORD Jesus Christ, the parable of the good Samaritan, the parable of the lost sheep, and the parable of the prodigal son. These are not recorded in the other Gospels. This book presents Jesus Christ as a man, the Son of God in the flesh, who in Jesus’ own words had the title of Son of man.

Key Verse:And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David. And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end.” Luke 1:31-33

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11

“Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.” Luke 6:22-23

“But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you. Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also. Give to every man that asketh of thee, and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. Luke 6:27-31

“For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest, neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.” Luke 8:17
